Tangier Island

There are 500 Tangierians but only a handful of surnames. One of them is Crockett, as in, Davie's descendants. Wolf says that given enough time and a constant population, the theory of probability predicts that eventually there would only be one last name. Unfortunately, the population here is also dwindling.

Everything is scaled down at Tangier. Look at the golf carts, there main form of transportation on their two narrow circuiting 15 MPH roads.

At the local museum we learned that several presidents and hollywood stars visited the Island. tangier gets a lot of attention per capita. In fact, an agency contracted by ESPN was on our boat getting ready to film an ad there. A poster at the Post Office called for casting volunteers.

I ordered a soft shell crab sandwich and there were literally two chewably-soft crabs smack on my bun. There was almost zero crunch, Chesapeake style. Unbelievable.
